About Sophy Kron
Since the beginning of her legal career, Sophy has concentrated on helping families and children in need of assistance during times of adversity. During law school, she completed a judicial internship in D.C. Superior Court’s Family Court, and several internships that focused on providing legal services to immigrants and victims of domestic violence in Washington, DC and Brooklyn, New York. She also participated in a year-long domestic violence law clinic. These experiences solidified her commitment to providing a voice for vulnerable populations.
Following completion of her legal studies, Sophy began to focus more specifically on child advocacy work. She accepted a position with New Vision, Inc. in Nashville, Tennessee, where she completed thorough home studies and compiled written reports for use by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services in evaluating potential foster families. Following her time with New Vision, Sophy began work as an immigration attorney for the Community Law Group in Nashville. In this capacity, she worked on a wide variety of immigration law cases and represented clients in proceedings before Immigration Court. She also specialized in providing assistance to children and young adults seeking Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Upon her return to her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, Sophy began volunteering with Legal Aid Justice Center, while starting a family of her own. As a volunteer, Sophy continued to assist youths with DACA applications and also represented children in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases.
Sophy is qualified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as a guardian ad litem. She is passionate about providing high-level legal advocacy to children and is excited about serving as a guardian ad litem in Central Virginia, where she is happily raising two children with her husband.
